Hello!
I'm Gem, and I'm a 4th year game development & design student.
I excel primarily in the design aspects of game development, although I have done all the coding and Unity work for Singularity Delivery by myself. Across several years of game development courses I have made multiple games across many different platforms and genres, including:
These works were all completed but never reached commercial or public release.
Currently, the only work I'm prepared to share is the recently released alpha build of Singularity Delivery, a project that I've been working on with some fellow students as our capstone project.
About Singularity Delivery:
The goal of this game is to invoke a feeling of daring - mainly via imposing a soft time restriction onto players. We found that a soft restriction which controls the rewards a player receives is more effective than a hard restriction, as it not only allows for a multitude of playstyles, but also can encourage a player to take even more risks than a hard time limit does. If the time limit were limited to 60 seconds, then the goal is simply to complete the objective before that time runs out, while this style instead encourages players to always be moving as quickly as possible.
The setting of the game is meant to similarly invoke that feeling, however, it is not fully implemented yet artistically in the currently available alpha build of the game. The setting we've built the story around is an anarcho-capitalist dystopia, where various businesses control the world instead of governments, and profitability is the main factor of any decision made. This led us to the idea of a delivery game where your paycheque is based on how quickly you performed your deliveries.
In this type of dystopian setting, however, good people and charitability are seldom found, which led our protagonist and his family to the brink of bankruptcy. The story as a whole explores the lengths which our protagonist will have to go to in order to provide for his family in such a cold and unforgiving world.
